Nuestra Señora de Guia Parish 27th anniversary

A Journey of Faith: Dawan Parish Honors Our Lady of Guidance on its 27th Year

DAWAN, MATI CITY — The Nuestra Señora de Guia Parish came alive with hope, joy, and gratitude as it celebrated more than two decades of unwavering faith, dedication, and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The celebration was held today, May 18, at Nuestra Señora de Guia Parish in Dawan, Mati City, led by the Bishop of the Diocese of Mati, Most Rev. Abel C. Apigo, D.D., together with members of the clergy.

In his homily, Bishop Apigo emphasized the importance of following the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary in everyday life.

“Let us serve the Virgin Mary as our model in our daily lives, for she is Our Lady of Guidance—our source of guidance and support,” he said.

Nuestra Señora de Guia, known as the “Lady of Guidance,” is among the oldest Marian devotions in the Philippines, symbolizing protection and direction for travelers, sailors, and those seeking guidance in life’s journey.

Church historians note that the original image of Nuestra Señora de Guia is enshrined at the Archdiocesan Shrine of Nuestra Señora de Guia, also known as Ermita Church in Manila.

For many parishioners, the parish’s 27th anniversary was more than a celebration—it was a testament to a faith that has remained steadfast through trials, challenges, and years of spiritual journeying. (Xyra Grey Maghuyop)
