Davao Cursillistas Mark 62nd Anniversary and Grand Ultreya with Month-Long Faith Journey
DAVAO CITY — The Cursillos in Christianity movement in the Archdiocese of Davao is set to mark a major milestone this September, celebrating its 62nd Foundation Anniversary and Grand Ultreya with a vibrant, month-long series of spiritual and community activities built around the theme: “Leavening the Environment through a Renewed Faith, Walking Together in Grace.”
Local Cursillistas and members of the community are invited to join the spiritual journey, which kicks off on Saturday, September 5, 2026, with a day of reflection and prayer. The opening Recollection will be led by our very own Spiritual Director, Rev. Fr. Jemasol Ortiz, DCD, at St. John the Baptist Parish in Lasang, running from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
The celebration continues on September 12 with a four-stop Pilgrimage. Participating Cursillistas will travel together to deepen their devotion, visiting: St. John the Baptist Parish (Lasang), San Agustin Parish (Panabo), Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish (Carmen) and Christ the King Cathedral (Tagum City, Davao del Norte).
The highlight of the month takes place on Saturday, September 19, as the Archdiocese gathers for the official 62nd Founding Anniversary and Grand Ultreya at St. Mary’s of the Perpetual Rosary Parish in Buhangin. The gathering will feature guest speaker Rev. Fr. Orlando “Orly” A. Angelia, DCD, who will share insights on living out faith in everyday environments.
To conclude the month-long observance, an Archdiocese-wide Outreach Program will take place on September 26, putting faith into action by serving local communities in need. All Cursillistas, families, and faithful throughout the Archdiocese of Davao are warmly invited to participate in these events as the community comes together to renew its commitment to Christ and walk forward in grace.
