FCCY holds 1st Regional Confab

The Filipino-Chinese Catholic Youth (FCCY) Mindanao Region, comprising Davao, Cotabato, Iligan, Cagayan de Oro and Ozamiz participated the 1st FCCY Mindanao Regional Convention which is the host chapter is the Davao City chapter. It was held last May 23-26,2013 at D’leonor Inland & Adventure Park Resort with the theme “M^3: Missionaries of Mary’s Magnificat” which focuses more on Mama Mary’s role in the Church and in our faith.

Joined by more than 60 delegates and more than 20 facilitators/volunteers from all the chapters,  catechesis, group activities, prayer sessions and Eucharistic celebrations were the very highlights of the event.

Catechesis was given by Atty. Marwil Llasos on the topic “Mary Accompanies Us”, Fr. RusselBantiles on “Mary’s Magnificat” and Bro. Alwyne Jan “AJ” Perez on “Do Whatever He Tells You”. Every after the catechesis there’s a caregroup sharing and reflection within the caregroup. Another group activity was the very tiring but fun-filled learning experience they encountered in the Amazing Race. Also during the convention, the FCCY staged a fund raising concert entitled “Herald of God’s love Concert” on May 25, 2013 held at Stella Maris Academy of Davao Skygym, featuring the worship duo “Where’s the Sheep?”, namely Mike Shimamoto and Hero Mauricio. It was mainly a praise& worship wherein all the people especially the youth in the venue jumped, leaped, sang, shouted and lifted all their praises to the Lord.

The convention would not be complete if there is no Marian devotions & Eucharistic celebrations. From the very first day upto the last day of convention we hear Holy Masses. Holy Rosary is a devotion in honor of the Virgin Mary and the rosary is a prayer that brings us closer to her Son, Jesus. Whenever we pray the rosary, Mama Mary accompanies us to Jesus by reflecting on the mysteries of the life of Jesus.

“….I invite people to pray the Rosary individually, in the family and in the community, placing themselves in the school of Mary who leads us to Christ, the living centre of our faith”. –Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI
