Pope Francis: “World War III” now underway

We may not know it but today, “World War III” is being played out in “piecemeal” basis in many forms, according to Pope Francis. Look at the global situation: terrorism and fighting everywhere, outbreak of uncontrollable diseases, calamities, violence, even major accidents. Let’s brace ourselves. The enemy can be lurking somewhere and near. Watch out!

BEWARE MALAYSIA– I was taken aback hearing in the news that Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Rasak was using the islamic terrorist ISIS, which the whole world today is condemning and fighting against, as an example of how a small group can succeed. Wow! I cant believe my ears. This is worrisome, Malaysia being our third party facilitator in the MILF peace talks. If this is accurate, we might as well all be ready for a worst case scenario.

BONGBONG — I’m glad to hear Senator Bongbong Marcos being pro-active in the BBL issue. He announced his senate committee would go the rounds of Mindanao to consult stakeholders. Way to go, Mr. Senator.

ILIGAN VISIT — Iligan City, during my visit a few days ago, seems to be on an economic doldrum or slowdown. The Iligan Steel Mill that  once employed thousands is still closed. Even though it’s where NAPOCOR’s hydro hub with the majestic Maria Cristina Falls, is found,  power shortage is bugging the big industries there. It’s pitiful!

CDO AIRPORT — The new Laguindingan Airport outside Cagayan de Oro city is sometimes jokingly  called “Di-malandingan international airport”. It has no installed navigational system of its own to help aircrafts. The control tower that guides airplanes safely  is still at far-away, old and closed Lumbia airport in downtown Cagayan de Oro city. As a result, the airport is closed when it gets dark. When the weather is bad “di talaga ma-landingan”, thus the name. (ha ha ha!)

ROUGH RIDE –BBL (bangsamoro basic law) can also stand for “Bangsamoro Bus Liner”  while the comprehensive agreement for the bangsamoro or CAB can also be simply  called “cab”, as in taxicab.  Both rides hopefully will bring us to peace. But there will be humps and bumps along the way. So  please fasten your seat belts, folks!

SABAH — I will be in Kota Kinabalu in Sabah this weekend to participate in the biennial Sabah International Expo for  BIMP EAGA. Downtown Sabah skyline is now comparable to Global City or Makati. So forget about the Philippine claim.  It is so progressive Sabah may, in reverse,  claim Mindanao instead.
