RVM 2nd Provincial Chapter

TWENTY-ONE Sisters of the Congregation of the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM) gathered for the 2nd Provincial Chapter held at the Beaterio de Mindanao, Matina, Davao City, April 27-30, 2015.

The jurisdictional milestone began with a recollection facilitated by Fr. Wilfredo Samson, SJ the day prior to the formal opening. The Chapter commenced with the reports of the Provincial Superior and the Provincial Econome as the first highlights of the four-day gathering.

With its theme, Living More Vibrantly the Humble Servanthood of Mother Ignacia del Espiritu Santo with God’s Mercy and Compassion, the 2nd Provincial Chapter evaluated the creative apostolic initiatives of the previous Chapter as a way of fortifying the witness and presence of the Sisters in Southern Mindanao.

Re-elected to her post as Provincial Superior is S. Maria Corazon D. Agda, RVM. The members of her Council include: S. Maria Preciosa M. Rusiana, RVM, Provincial Vicar and 1st Consultor; S. Maria Eufemia E. Horlador, RVM, 2nd Provincial Consultor and Provincial Secretary; S. Maria Jocelyn G. Gerarde, RVM, 3rd Provincial Consultor; S. Maria Zosima N. Capua, RVM, 4th Provincial Consultor; and S. Maria Anita M. Talbo, RVM, Provincial Econome, also re-elected to her post. Following the customary confirmation and acceptance of their responsibilities, the duly elected leaders were immediately installed by the Superior General of the Congregation, Mother Maria Evelyn C. Aguilar, RVM. Davao’s Auxiliary Bishop, His Excellency George G. Rimando, D.D., celebrated the Holy Mass and blessed the Capitulars and also the committees of Sisters assisting the delegates.

Overall, the Provincial Chapter proceeded smoothly and effectively as the Capitulars labored and cleared the path for the Jurisdiction’s journey in the next five years. The Sisters look forward to a more vibrant leadership as S. Maria Corazon steers the Province towards the realization of its mission according to the spirit and charism of humble servanthood which Venerable Ignacia del Espiritu Santo, Mother Foundress, exemplified.

The Chapter formally closed on April 30, 2015. A Thanksgiving Mass was held the following day presided by Fr. Archimedes Lachica, SJ. (S. Maria Merma Liza M. Shalah, RVM)
