Ruth and Boaz

Men of the Scripture: Boaz

Ruth and BoazHis name means “In Strength.” He heeded the counsel of Philippians 4:8-9.

His work: Boaz displayed and showed kindness towards Ruth. He protected and provided for Ruth, while she worked in Boaz’ fields.

His character: Boaz was an upright man. He was loyal and generous to a young widow named Ruth, who came from a land despised by Israelites. He played the role of kinsman-redeemer for Ruth and Naomi, her mother-in-law. (In ancient Israel the kinsman-redeemer was the male relative in the family responsible for protecting the rights of the family).

His Triumph: Finding a wife who blessed him with a son. He was blessed with a wife who must have been a pleasure to live with and a son who would become the grandfather of King David.

Promises:
“Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the Lord delivers him in times of trouble. The Lord will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land.” – Psalm 41:1-2

“He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.” – Proverbs 18:22

“The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him.” – Proverbs 20:7

Legacy in the Bible: Ruth 3: 1-11

Reflection:
Christians strongly believed that prayer is the most powerful sword in the field works. Like Boaz, he prayed for a blessing for Ruth. It surprised him to realize that he became the answer to his own prayer. For him, it was the Lord’s reward for Ruth’s demonstrated faith in the God of Israel and for her loyalty to Naomi. Ruth and Boaz were blessed by becoming the parents of Obed and the great grandparents of King David.

We praise God for rewarding the goodness of those who belong to him. Let us continue to offer thanks for what God has given so that we can bless others. (Feedback to 09106793441) (Edgardo R. Sara | Kiblawan)
