Prayer group for souls in purgatory organizes pilgrimage to the Holy Door

So off went the lady pilgrims (and some men too) in Mama Mary blue chalecos to the Holy Doors at the San Pedro Cathedral, Tagum’s Christ the King Cathedral, and Digos’ Our Lady of Mediatrix of Grace Cathedral for the world’s dear departed.

Armed with the rosary, the Holy Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and St. Gertrude’s chaplet for the Holy Souls in Purgatory were repeatedly prayed as pilgrims drove to these sites.

Coordinated both in Tagum and Digos cathedrals, parish officers detailed the “Rito Sa Panawduaw Sa Balaang Pultahan” (Rite of the Holy Door Pilgrimage). Fans flapping because of the noon heat, the blue warriors listened reflectively on the blessings of this extraordinary year of mercy.

One is to pray for a deep desire to be holy, to confess, and to savour in communion the Body and Blood of our LORD JESUS in the holy mass. Before passing through the holy door, pilgrims prayed the prayer of Pope Francis posted in front of the door. Once inside, ardently for a beloved dead. One Credo, one Our FATHER, one Hail Mary, one Glory Be, and a prayer for Pope Francis will suffice to avail of the indulgence.

Confession in the cathedrals preceded the celebration of the holy mass. In each pilgrims’ heart is the knowledge that God has again heaped up graces upon all.

Turning into a tradition, the March of Saints will again be held at the San Isidro Labrador Parish in Catalunan Grande end of October. So too the days of meritorious prayers to relieve and release souls from Purgatory, and the daily masses for the dead for the whole month of November.

Always our God of surprises, the Chapter will have not just their hands, but their hearts full with all the coming events to be spearheaded by PWHS Davao.

So, please invoke with us the intercession of the holy souls in Purgatory as we pray Eternal Father, I offer you the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, in union with all the Holy Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in your universal church, those in my own home, and within my family, Amen.
