Sta. Ana celebrates 68th Parochial Fiesta!

Sta. Ana Parish altarSaints Anne and Joachim, parents of our Blessed Mother, play an essential role in the salvation history of humankind. Though their names were never mentioned in the Scripture, especially in the Gospels but the Tradition taught us that Mary had parents. She grew up and received her training to be the Mother of God from them. They gave us concrete and living examples of faithfulness and total dedication to God’s will. Thus, our devotion to Saints Anne and Joachim is a manifestation of love and respect which we Christian Catholics professed towards our Blessed Mother.

On July 26, 2017, our Parish celebrated the 68th Parochial Fiesta in honor of our Patroness St. Anne with the theme: “Niining tuig sa Parokya: si Santa Ana ug San Joaquin, Modelo sa Kahiusahan sa Komunidad Diha sa Kristohanong Katilingban.” This year’s theme highlighted the importance of community that is founded in unity and love.

The feast of our Patroness reminds us to speak God’s presence and abide in Him in prayer as what Archbishop Romulo G. Valles, D.D. stressed in his homily: “Many of us, many of our parents, mga lolo and lola pa, they have come to this place in prayer. They find the place really having an atmosphere of prayer in God’s presence.”

Sta. Ana devotion is one of the oldest devotion in the archdiocese of Davao. It was through the initiative and effort of the PME Fathers that this Church was built. From its establishment until the present, this became a sanctuary or a place where the devotees of Saints Anne and Joachim express their devotion through novenas and other liturgical celebrations.
