This book called the BIBLE

BibleIt has been said that before the bishops finalized the list of inspired books of the Bible around 4th century, there were about 350 books that were circulating in the Christendom. The Canon or the books accepted as Holy Scriptures is the greatest story ever told. The consistency of the love of God is evidently present, book after book. Indeed, a testament to the work of the Holy Spirit.

No wonder, the apostles and the bishops of the early Church such as St. Paul were vigilant and careful in the care of what they have received. They made it sure that what they passed on to the next generation of Church leaders and its followers was the truth. We call this the oral tradition. These guardians of the Holy Scriptures is headed by the Pope.

The Pope is the Vicar of Christ, a symbol of unity that has the authority to prohibit and permit as Christ gave the keys to St. Peter for him and his successors to govern the Church. This action had been the practice of the kings of Israel when they bestow authority to their prime ministers (Isaiah 22).

The truths written in the Bible are still true today. It is up to us to discover them by reading the Holy Scriptures every day. When doubts, confusions, or questions arise, we consult with the Magisterium. Our bishops and priests continue to be the bearers of the Light of Christ. This Light shall never be extinguished. (Johny Sulit)
