Archbishop Valles meets Davao Theologians

Archbishop Romulo G. Valles, D.D. the Archbishop of Davao, joined the Davao Major seminarians from St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary in their simple fellowship after the installation of new 5 lectors and 4 acolytes from the Archdiocese of Davao.

Held at Delongtes, the Rector of REMASE, Msgr. Abel Apigo together with some of the clergy in the Archdiocese joined also in the said celebration, July 20, 2013.

The Archbishop was glad to hear that the Archdiocese of Davao now ranked first in terms of number at REMASE with its 21 theologians – ten (10) from Pre-Theology year, five (5) Theology 1, four (4) Theology 2, one (1) Theology 3 and one (1) Theology 4.

Amidst a boom in the number of the seminarians from the Archdiocese of Davao, the Archbishop challenged the major seminarians to have an intense vocation campaign and eventually apply a science or a structure on it.

“We must put more effort in the campaign for the vocation to the diocesan priesthood,” he remarked.

The Archbishop also wanted to know more his theologians, saying “You can visit the Bishop Palace and have breakfast there together with me. In fact, you can visit me anytime.”

“Every gathering of the clergy, come with your parish priest to the clergy house; during semestral break, Christmas break and vacation, you can visit me and chat with me,” he added.

This is the first time that Davao Theologians dine with the Archbishop since his installation.

Headed by the Davao Theologian president Sem. Giovanni Udtohan, the Davao Theologians were glad to hear the Archbishop.

Together with the Davao Vocation director, Rev. Fr. Hover Jocson, DCD, the Davao theologians  will be the front liner in the campaign this coming September’s vocation month.
