Let’s fight Enemy : FVR

CALL FROM FVR — I was pleasantly surprised to get a call from former President Fidel “FVR” Ramos a few days ago after he read my article entitled “PHILS vs. CHINA, CRAZY!” He said all the countries, including China must come together and organize a multi-lateral group to form a maritime coalition. No, not to fight against each other but to unite and fight together in a big war against a common enemy of mankind: poverty, global warming, environmental challenges, etc.

FVR is still in his elements! Never too old!

FIGHT NOT OVER — The fight against the RH Law is not over yet. The Catholic bishops will continue to campaign so that the new law will be stricken off the statute books. But this needs collective action not only by the bishops or priests alone but by the laity as well. More so now that there is renewed talk about the proposed abortion law also to be taken up in Congress. Let’s all give a hand and give this a good fight!

CBCP VICE CHAIR — Congrats! Our very own Archbishop Romulo Valles has been chosen to be the new vice chairman of the Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines (CBCP). He will be 2nd in command to Archbishop Soc Villegas, the incoming chair.

CEBU PACIFIC —I had the privilege of facilitating and bridging the initial gap between Cebu Pacific and the passengers who were in that Flight 5J 971 which stuck its nose in the mud at the Davao airport a few weeks ago. When both sides are reasonable and mutually searching for acceptable terms of settlement, there is no reason why differences cannot be resolved.

NOT SAFE? — If you are neither an American nor a Canadian, nor an Australian for that matter, you need not worry about the travel advisories their respective embassies issued against travel in some parts of Mindanao. Fact is, those advisories are ONLY FOR THEIR OWN CITIZENS! So, no worries for you and me.

ASK YOURSELF — Have you done something good for someone today? If you haven’t, it’s NOT TOO LATE YET . Go ahead and do something TOMORROW. Anything or any simple act will do. Do a “work of God” and then be sanctified.
