Parish youth holds youth gathering

The Youth Apostolate of St. Francis of Assisi Parish (YASFAP) in Ma-a had their annual Parish Youth Day on May 24-26, 2013 at Ma-a Central Elementary School. The 3 days camp was participated by 400 young individuals coming from the 37 GKK’s of the said parish. The event was graced by the support of different organizations such as the Junior Chamber International Duwaling Chapter, the Youth for Peace Movement, and some personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police who served as their ate’s and kuya’s.

With the theme, “Peace and Prosperity, our Shared Responsibility in the Year of Faith”, the participants’ role as young people in the community and in the family was enlightened through the session with Fr. Russell Bantiles. The event was full of learning as the organizers invited different agencies such as the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, City Health Office, Commission on Human Rights, National Youth Commission, and some other government and non-government organizations. Aside from just listening, the participants were able to bring out their creativity by showcasing their different talents during the poster making contest, essay writing, song composition contest, cheers and yells and the Kultura Night where they crowned Jiyo S. Fulgaras Mr. Peace from Zone 6 and Angela dela Peña as Ms. Peace from zone 8. The Amazing Race taught the participants not only the value of team-building but as well their great role as individuals in nation-building.
