DAVAO CITY, Philippines – His Excellency Archbishop Romulo Valles, DD, archbishop of the Archdiocese of Davao, opened the Daniel Padilla Concert last Saturday, August 3, 2013, at the Holy Cross of Davao College Gymnasium.

The benefit concert organized by the Association of Former Seminarians was staged for the rehabilitation of the facilities of the St. Francis Xavier College Seminary in Catalunan Grande, Davao City—the heart of the local Church of Davao.

Here’s the excerpt of Archbishop Valles’ welcome message:

Good evening. Magandang gabi po. Maayong gabii kaninyong tanan!

This evening, I am sure will be a beautiful and wonderful evening for all of us.
I said it will be a beautiful and wonderful evening for the reason that most of you this evening who have come are young people – and we have young people in our midst – the atmosphere is surely filled with energy of life, of enthusiasm, of friendship, of togetherness. Thus, this evening will sure be fun – because it is fun to be with the young people of the archdiocese of Davao!

This evening will also surely be beautiful and wonderful simply because the performing artist who will entertain us – is young and popular and a talented stage and TV performer. Plus the fact, and I would not miss to mention it, that he is a good looking performer.

This evening will indeed be wonderful and beautiful because, we are here – you have brought tickets and have come – not only to watch and enjoy the performance of Daniel Padilla, but also to give your support to a very important institutions in the Archdiocese of Davao. The association of the former seminarians organized this concert to support our St. Francis Xavier College Seminary. To all in the association of former seminarians, to all our sponsors, to you all this evening – kinasingkasing namong pasalamat (my heartfelt gratitude to all of you).

Thus, we say, this evening is truly an evening we can enjoy for the Church and for the Lord.

Welcome to you all. Enjoy this concert! And again thank you for coming!

The Schola Cantorum of St. Francis Xavier College Seminary will also perform during the concert.
