Count Your Blessings

Director’s Message

It is always better count our blessings than become paralyzed by the wishes and wants that do not yet happen to us.

The Davao Catholic Herald, Asia’s longest-running Catholic newspaper is yet far from being the ideal medium of communication. Yet, these past few months have brought us a lot of blessings.

We have been blessed by our die-hard columnists who selflessly contribute their talents and skills in writing. Special gratitude goes to Mr. Chito Gavino who had been our columnist from 2004 till this year. In his column entitled SUNDAY, he tickles not only our minds of our readers but also challenges us to action. Founded on deep spirituality as a lay minister, Mr. Gavino helps us deepen our faith through his comprehensive reflection of events around us.

His columns call us to be “Moderate In All Things” as “Stewards of Environment” and “Beware of Anti-Christ”. He also enables us to reflect on “On Running for Public Office” as we pose “Questions to Presidential Bets” whom we hope could help boost our “Economic System”.

By the middle of this year, many of us missed the SUNDAY column as our beloved columnist Chito Gavino expressed to stop writing for HERALD as he needs time for himself and his family. We respect Mr. Chito Gavino so much.

From your HERALD family, thank you so much Sir Chito. You have been a blessing to us. We continue to praise the Lord for having you with us. God bless you and your family!
