Panacan celebrates Rosary Month

The month of October is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary as the month of the Holy Rosary. Marian devotees would say the Holy Rosary everyday. Likewise the Gagmay Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK) of the San Miguel Parish, Panacan gather their members to do the community Holy Rosary in their respective chapels.
Some GKK pray the rosary every evening and others do it at dawn or whatever time that most of their members could attend. Before the prayers, petitions are expressed asking for the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary most especially for peace in the world, for the Church and for everyone’s personal intentions.
The Sto. Rosario GKK of Km. 12, starts the Holy Rosary at exactly 4:30 a.m. The members take turn in leading the Rosary. Adult members encouraged the young people to lead the prayers. Most of them learned to say the Rosary thru this month long activity. The Rosary reminds everyone of the life of Mary and her son Jesus Christ, the virtues of Mary which we all have to emulate and to ask for the her protection in times of difficulties and to thank her for all the graces we received thru her intercession. It also encourages everyone to pray for each other’s petition. After the Rosary a light pamainit would be served. Generous GKK members would offer to bring pamainit especially for some elderly who wake up very early to attend the prayers. This activity creates unity and love for each member of the community.

On October 31, 2013, at 4:00 a.m. the parishioners of San Miguel Parish of Panacan celebrated the culmination of the Month of the Holy Rosary with a procession of the images of the Blessed Virgin Mary from all the GKK of the parish around the church ground. A Holy mass was officiated by the Parish Priest Fr. Proceso “Jhun” Gimeno at 5:00 a.m. After the mass the parishioners partook of the pamainit brought by each GKK.

The Month of October gave us the chance to really reflect on the life of Jesus and Mary. It reminds us of the love of Mary towards us her children and the ever ready help whenever we call unto her.
