Year of Faith ends

The celebration of the Year of Faith has already ended but the call to live one’s faith never ends.
The Universal Church has culminated the Year of Faith on the eve of the feast of Christ the King, November 23.

The Archdiocese of Davao culminates the Year of Faith with a procession of the seven vicariates from designated places, sharing of the 12 articles of faith by chosen lay leaders and a Eucharistic Celebration, November 23 at the Martinez Sports Complex of Ateneo de Davao University, Matina Campus.
Abp. Romulo G. Valles presided over the Mass together with concelebrating priests of the Archdiocese of Davao.

In his input during the broadcast of #DCHeraldLive online TV, November 22, the Archbishop said that the Year of Faith, which was initiated by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI last October 11, 2012, was intended to help the faithful rediscover the journey of faith so as to shed clear light to the joy and renewed enthusiasm of the encounter with Christ.
“Mao kini ang kinabuhi sa pagtoo,” he said, adding: “Ang tinguha sa Tuig sa Pagtoo mao nga mahimong buhing encounter ni Kristo ang atong tibuok kinabuhi isip Simbahan.”
He also said the faithful should strengthen their faith not only within the celebration of the Year of Faith but should become a pattern of their lives.

Quoting Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, the archbishop said the Year of Faith is the time that everyone is called to celebrate the liturgy not just only a ritual but a living experience and encounter with God.
“Kini ang panahon nga unta napalawom ang atong kasayoran sa atong pagtoo, ilabi na ang katesismo sa atong pagtoo,” the archbishop said, mentioning the Catechism of the Catholic Church which is the reference to increase one’s knowledge of one’s faith.

The following are the sharers: Sorlinda Lozada from San Pedro Cathedral, Kharen Hazel Olario from Our Mother of Perpetual Help Parish, Alma Castañeda from San Isidro Labrador Parish-Catalunan Grande, Ret. Col Fe Basan from San Pablo Parish, Gloria Dagatan from San Antonio Parish, Ronnie Moradas from St. Francis Xavier Parish, Casimero Carampil, Jr., from Most Sacred Heart Parish, Raul Labuan, Jr. from Mary Help of Christians Parish, Nonoy Rodriguez from Immaculate Conception-Mintal, and Rommel Jandayan from Virgen Dolorosa Parish.

The archbishop said that since the Year of Faith was launched, the months that passed were fruitful due to the blessings and graces that the archdiocese has received.
“As the archbishop of Davao, I am greatly thankful to the clergy, religious and lay leaders, especially those involved in the social communications and mass media who helped in spreading to the faithful regarding our objective in celebrating the Year of Faith,” the archbishop said.
