REMASE holds Theological Forum
An estimated four hundred fifty (450) priests coming from DADITAMA and KIDMACO sub regions, religious men from different religious congregations and seminarians converged at the auditorium of the University of the Immaculate Conception at Bajada last November 25, 2013 for a theological forum.
The resource speaker was Rev. Fr. Antonio Pernia, SVD. The former rector of REMASE and the former Superior General of the SVD for the last 12 years.
Fr. Pernia speaks about the topic “The Second Vatican Council after Fifty Years: Its Implications on the Priestly Ministry and Life”. Using his wit and expertise he explained and elucidated the audience about the seemingly two different schools of thought in interpreting the spirit and text of the Second Vatican Council. He mentioned the paradigm shift which was evident in many aspects of priestly life during the last 50 years since Vatican II and he ended up by posing the challenge of REMASE being a theological center of knowledge and excellence with its own expression and language of faith in relation to the missionary activity of the church.
The forum started at 7:30 with the registration of the participants and ended with an open forum at exactly 12 noon. Lunch was also served after.
Archbishop Romulo Valles in his speech thanked Fr. Pernia for his presence and for the insights that he shared by presenting in the simplest possible terms the nuances of the Second Vatican council especially on Priestly Ministry and Life.
This forum is still part of the yearlong activities of REMASE in preparation of its Golden Jubilee next year on July 14, 2014.
