Making Dreams a Reality

If we would list all our difficult moments and success stories in our lives, Jecy Opada –EDITOR-IN-CHIEF of this Youth Newsletter, will surely use the wide blue sea to reiterate his journey.

His childhood isn’t about bedtime stories or playtime, instead it is more of working on the streets and household to earn for a living.

Growing is being burdened by all the responsibilities especially after his parents passed away. But the trials didn’t allow him to disregard the importance of education. He persevered in finding ways to sustain his studies and basic needs. He pursued his secondary education while working as a dishwasher in one of the catering services in Davao. There were nights that he dreamed of walking down the aisle while people are clapping and the marching song is being played on his graduation, going up on stage and receiving his diploma. For this reason, he decided to make those dreams a reality.

As he ventured for his tertiary education, he served as Student Assistant while taking BSEd-English in University of Immaculate Conception. Then transferred to Holy Cross of Davao College and eventually to San Pedro College as a scholar of a Deutsche Knowledge Services. He was being motivated by his friends, teachers and his faith in God to be courageous

and never quit in everyday challenges.

Now, as he will finally graduate in college,

he is definitely grateful to all those people who became instruments in molding him as a resilient person. He will use his profession as a teacher to be like Jesus Christ who evangelizes the word of God and inspires people especially the youth.
