10 REMASE graduates set to be ordained at San Pedro Cathedral

In celebrating its golden jubilee, 10 alumni of St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary will be ordained deacon.

Sem. Rex Carnaso, from the Archdiocese of Cotabato said they feel blessed to be ordained in the golden jubilee celebration of the first pontifical seminary in Mindanao.

He said he and nine of his classmates are happy that they finished their seminary formation in time for the golden jubilee celebration of REMASE, the heart of the local church.

Of the 10 graduates, the Archdiocese of Davao only has one candidate for ordination to the diaconate. Sem. Raul Nieves is from the St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Ma-a, Davao City.

The following are the names of the rest of those who will receive the sacrament of ordination on June 27 at the San Pedro Cathedral at 9:00 in the morning: Sem. Ver Anthony Abucay (Tagum), Sem. Darius Joseph Abuela (Tagum), Sem. Jojit Besinga (Tagum), Sem. Remejun Dagon (Kidapawan), Sem. Glenn Donoso (Surigao), Sem. Armando Labora (Kidapawan), Sem. Richard Limbaga (Tandag), and Sem. Rex Douglas Sungcad (Kidapawan).

According to Sem. Ver Anthony Abucay, another candidate for ordination, Sem. James Wendele Plaza Puracan who is from Surigao and a graduate of St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Cagayan de Oro City, will also be ordained together with the 10 REMASE graduates.

Msgr. Abel Apigo, rector of REMASE expressed his delight for having the ordination in time for the celebration of REMASE’s golden jubilee, as approved by the REMASE Bishops’ Commission.

He said the seminary is currently preparing the mounting of an exhibit of photos and memorabilia where people can see the wealth of treasure of the history of REMASE, from the time it was started by the PME Fathers up to the time that the Diocesan clergy took over the administration.

The culmination of the golden jubilee celebration is set on July 11
