HERALDS OF THE GOOD NEWS

May Ann Valencerina
Research and Database Department

May has started her journey with the young people at an early age of 11.  Every summer, she used to attendyouth camps and act on stage.  At a later part of her young life, she entered the world of Lectors and Commentators Club (LCC) where her Sundays became more meaningful.  Soon, Ate May joined the team of volunteers of DXGN FM, while taking up BS Math in college.

Time flew so fast.  Today, she made her comeback at the media apostolate.

She has already graduated from a master’s degree in Math.  Her being a teacher at DRANHS pushes her to finish her PhD in Statistics. While staying beautifully single, her belief that shared skill in numbers can be of great help to the apostolate’s training makes Media Baby kaba? more efficient among its varied audiences, as she takes hold its feedback component.  Media Baby kaba?is a media literacy caravan of the Davao Verbum Dei Media Foundation, Inc.

Walter Valencerina
Training and Support Department

Having the same last name with May Ann, Walter is her brother who used to direct stage plays for their youth group in the early ‘90s at a GKK in MatinaAplaya.  At a very young age of 17, his leadership potential was honed more in the youth ministry, then in the LCC.

His witty and intelligent ideas turned into reality made him a guy worthy of emulation among his peers.  No wonder that persistence, determination and prayers brought him to where he is now at the Information Office of the University of Mindanao.  Working daily, teaching at night, studying on Saturdays and writing “Teacher-on-Board” column on Sundays, Walter is already an expert in juggling this kind of schedule in the last 15 years of his life – all for God’s glory.  Soon, Walter hopes to marry her partner, while at the same time to be a part of the  Catholic radio station – his true home where he formerly anchored a youth talk show, Chikada.

Ryan Mejillano
Networking and Coordination

Memory verse.  Bible quotes.

Name them and smiling Ryan can share some of his thoughts to you about them on-the-dot.  With multiple years of studying our Catholic doctrine, his willpower became his ticket to becoming one of Catholic Faith Defenders’ pillars in Davao.  In fact, his team’s bravery in sharing the Word of God at the Park every Sunday is of no simple mission.  Facing objections from people and making them understand more the faith is such a great accomplishment.   As a teacher by profession, Ryan believes that his being a volunteer to Herald is an extension of his passion to share the good news to more people –offline and online.
