Indangan Parish holds 1st Summer Youth Camp
The Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish in Indangan held its 1st Summer Youth Camp, May 22 to 24, with the theme: “Go and Make Disciples of all Nations.”
The main purpose of the event is to re-echo the talks which was given during the youth camp held at St. Francis Xavier College Seminary last October 26-28, 2013 participated by the core group officers.
The event took place at the parish grounds and participated by 123 youths from different GKKs.
To formally start the event, a mass was held and officiated by Rev. Fr. Elneri Meñez, parish priest who rendered his inspirational message and reminder for the participants during his homily.
He explained the essence of having the camp and the lessons we can get after the event. He challenged the youth by saying “Can you be one of those disciples? Then, go and make disciples of all nation.”
The camp got more interesting when the DAYCA visited the site and their band led the praise and worship after the dinner. The participants joined in the activity and showed their great love and honor through singing, dancing and saying their prayers to the Lord. Everyone was overwhelmed and have their minds set on their purpose on joining the camp.
The following days got more enjoyable as the speakers have their talk (Go for God, be not afraid and serve) namely Mr. Albert Cebuco, Mr. Mark Mercado, Ms. Apple Manginlaud, Ms. Marchie Gorgonio, Ms. Ciabelen Albaran and Ms. Haivie Gabato have their lectures and activities for the youth.
The participants took the opportunity to meet and mingle with other participants as they go through the activities and share their own experiences in front of the crowd.
This led them to think of actions they can create, come up an idea to strengthen their faith to God and the possible ways they can do to be one of the disciples of God.
At night, we have crowned our first Mr. and Ms. Youth Camper. The participants were asked questions related to the lectures given earlier and each participant have their supporters who were shouting out their names.
The judges decided to crown Mr. Ranie John Blasquez and Ms. Jeremae Panizales to be the first Mr. and Ms. Youth Camper, the crowd even got more excited and congratulated the winners.
The next day, is the final blessing for the youth camp participants. A mass was held and presided over by Fr. Meñez. “Ako nanghinaut nga kamo adunay nakat-onan sa atoang gipahigayon nga youth camp. Ug hinaut nga dili diri mahuman ang inyong pag-alagad sa atong Ginoo,” he said in his homily.
After the mass, the youth packed their things, cleaned the area and left the place at noon time.
The camp serves as an instrument to unite the youth of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Parish. Because of the event, the organizers have come up a realization that everybody was born to be a leader. There are a lot of ways to gather all the children to our Father. All we have to consider is to do what we think is right, let us not be afraid to the consequences we might face and serve our Lord Jesus Christ.
