More seminars set for OLLP lay leaders

The Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Bangkal started the seminar on Basic Church Teachings for lay leaders.  The module for the said seminar had been approved by Parish Priest Dexter Veloso last May 20 for ecclesiastical teachings and references in the parish.  The first wave of seminar was given to eighteen parish formators last May 25.  The second wave was given to 47 parish youths last May 31, followed by the third wave given to 47 members of LCCP yesterday June 7, who are having their sending forth as of press time today.

The Basic Church Teaching Seminar is prerequisite along with the Evangelization Seminar, the Basic Bible Seminar and the Basic Liturgy Seminar to all lay leaders in the parish.  It includes Basic Church History, GKK Orientation, IIREF Orientation, Basic Social Teachings and APAD 2.  The seminar was designed by the OLLP Formation Ministry for lay leaders to be equipped with basic Theology of faith to be empowered appropriately and further lead them to deeper understanding of the Theological reflections of the “preferential option for the poor” challenged by the Second Plenary Council of the Philippines of 1991.

OLLP Formation Coordinator Vonz Hijada along with Leonides Lallen are currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Theology at the Ignatian Institute of Religious Education Foundation (IIREF) of the Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC).  Father Dexter Veloso is encouraging more lay leaders to enroll in IIREF’s Masteral Program, as well as in its Vicariate School of Theology.  He is also hoping for lay leaders to enroll in IIREF’s Doctorate Program to assist someday in the Magisterium of the Archdiocese.
