This year’s Youth Directors and Coordinators’ Forum was held in the Archdiocese of Davao.

The Mindanao-Sulu Pastoral Conference Youth Secretariate (MSPC-YS) conducted its 8th Annual Youth Directors and Coordinators Meeting, last February 11-13, 2015 hosted by the Archdiocese of Davao with the theme: MSPC Youth Celebrates Year of the Poor: Understanding the Social Teaching of the Church.

The objectives of the gathering is to give a refresher on social teachings of the Church: to share experiences in the respective archdiocese, dioceses, prelature, and vicariate; to enhance awareness on the current concerns and issues in Mindanao; and to strengthen belongingness among the youth ministers in the spirit of communion and solidarity.

On the duration of the said meeting, Rev. Fr. Jeffrey Balanay gave an orientation on Youth Ministry followed by the acknowledgement of MIND-YOUTH editorial staff that existed for 12 years since 2004. Also, to connect and stretch information with the rest of the young people not only in Mindanao through social media, a youth website was launched by the MSPC-YS (www.mindyouth.com).

Sharing of concrete suggestions, insights and presentation of the year of the youth plus scheduling of pastoral management training were also set. In addition, to intensify the awareness on current issues, Dr. Gail Tan Ilagan, of the Ateneo de Davao University Social Sciences Department shared some updates on Mamasapano (Fallen 44) incident. Prior to the end of forum, Bp. Elenito Galido, DD sent his parting message as Bp. Severo Caermare accepted his appointment as the new MSPC-Youth Bishop in charge.

Bp. Galido stated: “Bp. Ver will be with you now, another shepherd who will continue the journey proclaiming and serving Jesus who is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Kudos to all of you. My gratitude especially to the Secretariate whose determination and effort is inspiring and consoling. God bless you all, Mabuhay ang Mindanao Youth.” (MJ Olea)
