K of C Awarded by Navy

The Knights of Columbus (KofC) – Mindanao Jurisdiction headed by newly-installed Mindanao Deputy Reynaldo C. Trinidad, received a Plaque of Recognition from the Naval Forces Eastern Command during its 24th Anniversary Celebration last Sept. 3, 2015. It was held at the NFEM multi-purpose covered court in Felix Apolinario Naval Station, Panacan, Davao City.

The K of C was recognized for through its State Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities it was able to donate wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, and canes to Camp Panacan Station Hospital. The hospital caters to wounded soldiers, sick military personnel and dependents, and civilian employees of the camp.

In partnership with the Ateneo de Davao University Community Engagement and Advocacy Council (UCEAC), Jacinto St., Davao City, the K of C for three years now has been receiving a number of above-mentioned devices for distribution to recipients in the community. UCEAC received donated Orthopedic Assistive Devices from the American Wheelchair Mission through the initiatives of the California Knights of Columbus, USA. They, likewise, awarded the Order a Certificate of Recognition to the K of C on June 22, 2015, for being a reliable and trusted partner in promoting and advocating the common good through social justice intended for the poor.

The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic, Family, Fraternal Service Organization. It is open for membership to practicing Catholics in union with the Holy See, 18 years old and above. (SK Rolando C. Quidilla)
