What every child should know
SCORES of youth and children delegates from the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Bangkal, the Saint Mary of Perpetual Rosary Parish in Buhangin, and the Immaculate Conception Parish in Mintal, along with Alternative Learning System youth learners, gathered for Basic Orientation on Child’s Rights and Anti-Child Trafficking at the Lingap Pangkabataan, Catalunan Pequeño, last December 23, 2015.
The said seminar educated the young church people on the basic rights of a child, particularly on survival, development, protection and participation; and elevated their awareness on anti-trafficking in person, especially of a child, that in every commission of a crime against a child, the law should always lean toward the best interest of a child.
“I am glad that I am leaving the year 2015 with a fruitful knowledge on this alarming issues on child trafficking,” commented one delegate from the OLLP in Bangkal.
“This is a wakeup awareness that every child should learn,” added a child from the SMPRP in Buhangin.
“Activities like poster-drawing and slogan-making help us express our emotions against child abuse and child trafficking,” ended a youth from the ICP in Mintal.
This year-end activity, sponsored by the Lingap Pangkabataan and the Kahiusahan sa mga Layko sa Mindanao (KaLaMi), was in response to Pope Francis’ combat against human trafficking which he described as ‘worse and more inhumane… that constitutes regression of humanity’ during his address to the Pontifical Academy of Social Science in Vatican last April 2015, echoing Pope Benedict’s condemnation of human trafficking which the latter defined as ‘plague on the body of contemporary humanity.’ (Vonz Hijada | OLLP SoCCom)
