Another Meaning of PASKO

PASKO for Cebuanos and Tagalogs is the time, feast and celebration of the English CHRISTMAS. The material object(s) that symbolizes their meaning is the word PINASKOHAN in Cebuano and PAMASKO in Tagalog.

But the Cebuanos give another meaning when they say Pasko sa Pagkatao sa Ginoo and Pasko sa Pagkabanhaw sa Ginoo. The former refers to the mystery of the INCARNATION of the Lord and the latter to the mystery of the DEATH-RESURRECTION of the Lord. This is the deeper meaning, and the real one.

“Pasko is PASCH in Hebrew, PASCUA in Spanish and PASCHAL in English.“

Their meaning is PASS-OVER, PASSAGE, TRANSITION leading to TRANSFORMATION, CHANGE and NEW LIFE. This is the mysterious experience of Jesus. It should be ours too. For, this is the ultimate reason for CHRISTMAS and EASTER!
