Movie Review: “Trolls”

Trolls movie reviewImagine the world without fun, a world without laughter, a world without color, a world without joy and harmony? What will you do, if the world full of circumstance change the way you do? These are the challenges faced by Trolls from their invaders called Bergens.

Trolls are known to be happy creatures that have always lived in a happy tree, in a happy forest. They have happy bodies; happy hair, with bright colors, in fact it looks like a colored mop that seems to be exploding out of the top of their heads.

Trolls also love to sing, and they always love to hug. They hug each other so much that they have to limit it, once in an hour just so they can get something else done.

Trolls life change when a certain circumstance happened, the Bergens who are known for being dull and lack of happiness, take motive on trolls, because they believe that the trolls can give them the happiness that they’re missing, and so those giant gloomy guys caged up the troll tree and created a once-a-year holiday called Trollstice: a single day when every Bergen can get a “taste” of happiness the trolls who are living in their happy tree.

Trolls made their way to escape from the Bergens, so they tunneled past the cage walls and found a path to freedom. From there they found a new home, a much cleaner and fresher air. One day when Poppy, the happiest, sweetest-voiced and most gifted troll you’ll ever meet, made a huge and loud musical event, that was the reason why Bergens found them and that started another misery on Trolls’ life.

But, Poppy having that strong personality, determination and strong conviction puts her life on the line and she fought against the Bergens to rescue her friends. She also helped a girl Bergen named Bridget come to grips with that truth. King Peppy, the father of Poppy, runs back to help some straggling trolls, yelling, “No troll left behind!” Branch the bad-tempered troll tells Poppy, “Bad things happen, and there’s nothing you can do about it.” But he learns that there are caring things you can do to help other people during those bad times.

The never-give-up actions of Poppy and a few other trolls, literally helps the whole population and Bergen town comes to understand that happiness comes from the heart, not from eating small, happy creatures. Branch also said to them that “happiness is inside of us all, you just need someone to help you find it.”

This movie greatly gives us an inspiration of how to be happy and staying happy, according to Proverbs 15:13 “A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit”. So always believe that God gives us a heart not to be lonely but instead a heart to be happy and a heart to inspire others. (Melvic Villamor)
