National Seafarer’s Day
Today is National Seafarer’s Day. We dedicate this day for our brethren who spend most of their time in places far away from their families. They combat different dangers at sea and adjust to changing temperatures and cultures due to the nature of their work. They are also deprived of the opportunity to go to Mass regularly. They miss a lot of important family gatherings due to distance. They just send their regular support to their loved ones through various means.
As their brethren in faith, we need to kneel down and remember them in our prayers that their faith may be strong, that they may not give in to temptations right away, and that they may be happy in their work relationships. Our prayer and friendly exhortation to take care of the blessings their family receives out of their labors are also very helpful. We hope that their families remain united all the time with God’s grace.
Mary, star of the sea, pray for us!
