City to begin intra-city bus service

The City Government of Davao is set to provide buses that travel within the city to help the commuters of Toril district and Catalunan Grande.

Davao City Transportation and Traffic Management (CTTMO) chief Dionisio C. Abude said that 6 buses from Toril and 6 buses from Catalunan Grande will take their routes to downtown Davao City.

According to Abude, the buses will have a morning service, which will run from 6:30am to 9am, and an afternoon service, which will run from 5pm to 8pm. “Para ni siya sa atong mga commuters na ma-stranded kay dili maka sakay og PUJ aron na dili sila ma-late,” Abude said.

Abude explains that the PUJ drivers are also supportive of this move because they also admit that they cannot cater to all the commuters from the respective areas. “Gipaabot nalang namo ang special permit. The buses are all ready and we have already placed all the bus stops,” Abude said.

The travel from Toril going to Roxas Avenue will have six bus stops: Toril District Hall, Corner Iwha MacArthur Highway, Gulf View (Gas station), Shell Station-Ulas, University of Mindanao (Matina footbridge), and Roxas Avenue. From Roxas Avenue going back to Toril, bus stops are Roxas Avenue, Layby Cor. Rizal-Quezon Boulevard (Merco), Sandawa Pias Café, Coke Warehouse in Ulas, Corner Iwha MacArthur Highway, and Toril.

From Catalunan Grande to Roxas Avenue, it will have nine bus stops: Elenita Heights, Santiago Villas, Sitio Awa, Barangay Hall of Catalunan Grande, Phoenix Gas Station, GSIS in Matina, SM Ecoland, Barangay Hall-Almendras, and Roxas Avenue. The travel from Roxas Avenue back to Catalunan Grande will have another nine bus stops: from Roxas Avenue, Mercury Drug in Bankerohan, Malayan College, Bangkal near Petron/Collado, San Isidro Labarador Church, Barangay Hall in Catalunan Grande, Sitio Awa, Santiago Villas, and Elenita Heights.
