Davao imposes clustering system amidst Covid-19 pandemic

To further ensure restrictions in the movement of people around the city, the City Government of Davao has imposed the clustering system due to coronavirus threats.

The clustering is in addition to the existing coding system in the food and medicine pass issued this month to control crowd movements when they purchase food items in the grocery or public market.

“We ask for your understanding of all the things we need to do. We are not doing this to make fun of the suffering of the people but we are doing this because the number of COVID-19 cases here in Davao City is increasing,” Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio said over Davao City Disaster Radio.

“Kung ang inyohang convenience ug ang inyohang mga kagustuhan lang ang atoang sundon, it’s as if nga wala ta’y control,” she added.

Complaints from residents saying some clusters have more stores than the others, and some stores near them are in a different cluster thus forcing them to travel farther to buy food.

The following are the clusters set by the city government of Davao and this will take effect until the Enhance Community Quarantine will be lifted:

Cluster 1: Poblacion A and B and Talomo District residents;
Cluster 2: Agdao District;
Cluster 3: Buhangin District;
Cluster 4: Toril District;
Cluster 5: Calinan, Baguio, Marilog, Tugbok and some barangays of Paquibato;
Cluster 6: Bunawan, some barangays of Paquibato and the Island Garden City of Samal.
