The month of June is usually the month where the opening of classes for public school begins. But for the school year 2020-2021 the school opening was moved to August 24, 2020 due to the pandemic we are experiencing right now which is Covid-19.

With the new normal being in place, the education of our children will be a whole new experience for them, as well as for us parents. According to the Department of Education this time the school curriculum will be blended learning. This means that there will be a combination of modules and online classes for students. Likewise, television and radio will also be used as medium of instruction.

This school year is a big challenge for our teachers, students and for parents alike. For those parents of students who are still in elementary, they will be facing a huge undertaking. They are going to supervise and oversee their children’s learning. The parents’ intellect to understand the children’s lesson will be tested inasmuch as their patience. We all know that today’s children have a very limited time focusing on a particular task. It is up to parents then to make sure that schedules for studies will be followed.

What a daunting task it is for parents, more so if they are working. It will entail a lot of love and loads of understanding. But with prayers, asking for wisdom and patience I just hope that this new educational system will work out.

Let me share with you below a prayer for teachers which can also be applied to parents who will have a great role in manning their children’s learning this school year that was posted at crosswalk.com.

A Prayer for Teachers

Dear God,

Grant our teachers an abundance of Your wisdom. Prepare their hearts to welcome and love our loved ones, and may we make sure to show them love and respect in return. Give them grace as they help students who aren’t thriving, courage to say what needs to be said, tools and knowledge on how and when to speak love, and strength when they feel weak. When they feel unseen, remind them that no moment goes unnoticed. They are shaping the future in one million small – yet incredibly important – ways every day. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the gift of learning they share with our children. Bless them, Lord, and may they see even just a glimpse of how their faithfulness will forever impact generations to come. Amen.
