First SUGID Meeting of the Year

SocCom volunteers who are called to represent each parishes and organizations in the Diocese gathered for a whole day meeting and collaboration for the finalization of the EXECOM who will serve as the core group in the Social Communication Ministry of the diocese and the revision of Vision, Mission and Goals that will be handed to Bishop Jimmy for approval and finality.

Blaze Beth Cantaros, Diocesan SocCom Coordinator presided the meeting and encouraged the delegates to suggest and make amendments in the draft which was made during the attended conference guided by the hand-outs authored by Fr. Joseph Palakeel, “Exploring Guidelines for the Communications Ministry”.

Rev. Fr. Allan Joie Nunez, DCD, Diocesan Soccom Director seated during the meeting and shared some thoughts drawn from the hand-outs as motivation. He also reiterated that the mission in this ministry is grounded in the Holy Trinity. This is a mission for communication to the people all about God. How God acts and taking good out from bad circumstances or prevailing the goodness of God from all the tests of natural disaster for example.

For the whole duration, the meeting was all fueled with laughter as means of enjoyment and fun behind the formality and seriousness in doing the tasks. Bishop Jimmy Afable, DD also seated for a while with the volunteers and showed his full support on the activity.

Despite the number of attendees who committed, the SUGID SocCom Volunteers finally decided to have their quarterly meeting and distributed the appointment for formal acknowledgment of Parish SocCom Coordinators to their respective parishes who are officially considered their contribution in documenting events, promoting and channeling information gathered for the purpose of evangelization within the diocesan scale.

It ended with a group picture and an engaging bid of goodbyes at 4:35 in the afternoon. (Rhizter Rafaela | SocCom Padada)
