God-Given Vocation and Talent

“Miracles are everywhere to be found when priesthood is magnified.”

Rev. Fr. Dionisio Cabantac Tabiliran was born on February 08, 1957 at Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, to Fructuoso Tabiliran and Maria Socorro Cabantac. He was the eldest among three siblings. He studied elementary at Vicente Hizon Sr. Elementary School and high school at Holy Cross of Agdao. After high school he decided to enter the St. Francis Xavier College Seminary and, later on, pursued Theology at St. Francis Xavier Major Seminary of Davao, Catalunan Grande.

Fr. Dionisio “Diony” was ordained last April 17, 1982 and his first assignment was at Sta. Catalina Parish Lasang (now St. John the Baptist Parish) as a Parochial Vicar. He has been assigned to ten parishes and in seven of which he served as parish priest.

He discovered his talent in composing songs and started to write when he was assigned at San Pedro Cathedral. He was inspired to write because of his companion-priest who is also good in music, singing and putting music to compositions. Fr. Diony usually writes liturgical songs, fiesta and festival songs and some of these are now used in masses and events.

Fr. Diony is currently the parish priest of St. Mary of the Perpetual Rosary Parish, Buhangin. Here he continues to give inspiration to others through the beauty of his compositions. With his paternal care and guidance, the parishioners have deepened their faith in Mama Mary and in the Lord. Among his most noteworthy initiatives are the Weekly Processions of the Blessed Virgin Mary which is every Tuesday and the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament every Thursday which aims to unite the people in prayer to end the Covid-19 Pandemic.
