Called to Serve

Recently the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary were blessed with the canonization of their founder St. Marie Rivier and last June 21, they were again blessed to have not one but two sisters who had their perpetual vows at the Presentation of Mary Chapel.

Sr. Michelle May and Sr. April Margarette professed their vows in front of not one but two bishops, Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D. and Most Rev. Jose Colin Bagaforo, D.D. together with 23 other priests. As the chapel was filled with both of the sisters’ families, there were also religious brothers and sisters who came and prayed for their vocation journey.

In his homily, Archbishop Valles re-recited the opening prayer which said, “Oh Lord holy Father, graciously confirm the resolve of Your servants (Michelle May and April Margarette) and grant that the grace of which they desire to be strengthened by new bonds, new connectedness, new relationship. This strengthening may produce in them, its full effect so that they may render due worship to Your Majesty and spread with apostolic zeal, the kingdom of Christ.”

As witnesses of this celebration we too are called to participate in this mission that both Sisters Michelle May and April Margarette received through their perpetual vows. To witness two ladies offering their entire lives to the service of the Lord creates in us this awe that in turn leads us to self-examination, knowing fully that we too are called to serve.
