Together in Mission

Last July 2, 2022 we welcomed Rev. Fr. Marlon M. Reyes, SSS as the new parish priest of the Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in F. Torres. At the young age of 45, he is already on his 10th year of being a priest. Although he is from Tondo Manila he is very much acquainted with Davao as he spent his one year postulancy in the city in 2003. As he was also previously assigned as the Vocation Director, he has been frequently visiting. The Cebuano dialect is not foreign to him as he was also assigned in Cagayan de Oro and that made him realize that probably it was his preparation for this new task.

Knowing how active the parish is having located in the downtown area, Fr. Marlon is both excited and nervous when he knew he’d be assigned as parish priest.

“Daghang salamat sa community ng Assumption Parish for the very warm welcome,” were his words as his gratitude was overwhelming. This welcome was not only felt that day but during his assignment back in 2020 when he was Parochial Vicar. He hopes that the excitement will continue to go on as they (he with the parishioners) do the mission of the church. “We are not just a celebrating church but we are a church who has a mission to do.” These words of Mr. Marlon were very clear that he is on the works of continuing the mission of the Blessed Sacrament Fathers as they celebrate their 50 year presence in the Archdiocese of Davao.
