Children are Back to School in the New Normal Environs

In 2020, during the pandemic, the Department of Education or DepEd provided the LCP or Learning Continuity Plan in modular or online platforms to teachers. This LCP provided learning interventions for students during the pandemic of which most of the parents got involved in the distance education of their children.

Today, DepEd has announced that school year 2022-2023 has 22 million enrolled students of which almost 10 million are children from kindergarten to third graders. These children are literally back to school and they hold classes face-to-face with their teachers and classmates in New Normal environs. These children have been impacted by the pandemic. So, what impact does this New Normal bring to the very young learners, especially to their basic education? They have come to get used to always wearing face masks, observe physical distancing, and to always wash their hands. As to whether their basic education is affected by the New Normal, several researches have to be conducted to determine the cause or effect of New Normal environs.

Let us therefore pray that as we celebrate Children’s Month this November, may Filipino children have access to health care, safe environment, and better education during this New Normal.
