Project Mankind

The economy of our country is primarily consumption-led. Economists bet that if the ‘revenge spending’ like shopping and travel continue, especially this advent season, coinciding with a heightened dollar remittance from Filipinos abroad, we will continue to outgrow our debt accumulated during the pandemic years. This aspiration is threatened with headwinds like high-inflation, food shortages, natural calamities brought about by human activities that scientists have been warning for years, elevated energy prices due to peso depreciation, and war.

We pray that the people of God will not forget the very reason why we prepare for Christmas. This ‘Project Mankind’ by our loving God is an attempt for us to be in union with Him who became like us, by entering deep into a relationship with us, teaching us how to regain our true identity. He brings abounding grace and all we have to do is to say, “Yes!” everyday of our life in our discernment to what He wants for us. Rest assured, as we give everything to Him, He gives everything we need with deep joy and peace in our hearts. He is a good paymaster. He is not a burden nor a threat to our freedom. He is freedom itself, the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

This Advent season is the time to prepare for Christmas. We have to pray more. The world is falling apart as many of us do not pray. Moreover, let us not forget to share our time, talent, and treasure to those in need. Lastly, we fast from our anger, envy, lukewarmness, greed, lust, gluttony, and pride. In our failings, we seek the Sacrament of Penance.

The Blessed Mother teaches us to ponder in our hearts what the Lord wants for us, and this helps us to respond with courage.
