A Shepherd for the Religious: Fr. Archimedes Lachica, SJ

Just recently, Archbishop Romulo G. Valles, D.D. appointed a new Episcopal Vicar for the Consecrated Life in the Archdiocese of Davao in the person of Rev. Fr. Archimedes Lachica, S.J.

Fr. Archimedes or commonly known as Fr. Kim is a religious priest of the Society of Jesus, also known as the Jesuits. Presently, he is ministering as a member of the faculty of the Business Administration Department of the Ateneo de Davao University.

As an Episcopal Vicar for the Consecrated Life in the Archdiocese, his main responsibility is to collaborate with the Major Superiors of the different religious congregations on issues that relate to their presence and respective ministries in the Archdiocese. He is the representative of the Archbishop to all our Religious Priests, Sisters and Brothers who are residing in the Archdiocese. He coordinates with the pastoral activities of all the religious and make sure that it is in line with the pastoral program of the Archdiocese

In a recent interview with Herald, Fr. Kim revealed that he has been in the Archdiocese for 15 years. He is grateful to Archbishop Valles for the trust he has given to him in carrying out the responsibilities of being an episcopal vicar. It is a challenge for him since there are many religious congregations in the Archdiocese but he is hopeful that he would be able to meet and visit all the religious communities. He would be glad to listen to any concerns that they want to relay to Archbishop Valles.

With the appointment of Fr. Kim, it shows a strong collaboration between the Archdiocese of Davao and all the religious congregations in providing various pastoral services to the people may it be in health care, education and social work. (Bro. Ignatuis Gonzales, CFA)
