The Lord’s Ship

The San Pedro Cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Davao. He is the captain of the ship. Fittingly, the façade of the Cathedral resembles that of a boat whose integrity is intact in spite of the challenges through time. Onboard is the owner – the Lord who assures stability and constancy in the journey of the people of God. The boat is the Church with the Holy Spirit steering the ship as the wind blows the sails towards our destination. It is but amazing, we now have forty-two parishes in Davao!

Modern society is beset with numerous influences that hinder our travel. We must refuse to be drawn, but instead draw all men, all hearts toward God, to be a more loving and responsible people embracing the demands of the Cross, stubbornly moving forward! We are all pilgrims who will always struggle to establish a Catholic culture, ever-relying on the Blessed Mother to reach our destination – heaven.
