Pakighimamat sa kabatan-onan 2023

In the hope of once more reigniting and rekindling the flame of serving the interest of Jesus, the Joseph Marello Youth (JMY) of San Francisco de Asis Parish conducted the “Himamat sa kabatan-onan, 2023”.

After 4 years since the pandemic, the youth leaders of San Francisco de Asis parish spearheaded by Rhea Q. Namang and the rest of the JMY officers, conducted an activity to ignite once more the interests of serving Jesus. The whole day activity commenced with a Eucharistic celebration as the date of the activity is held on a Sunday and was sponsored by the youth. After the mass, registration followed and then an opening remark was given by the parish priest, Fr. Mario Holmina, OSJ. In a statement he made, he stressed, “ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng ating simbahan”. He added that these young people will soon lead various church organizations and that some may choose to become priests, among other career paths, so it is crucial that while they are still developing spiritually, they are doing so with a burning desire to serve the interest of Jesus, just like the youth’s patron saint, St. Joseph.

The youth participants were then divided into groups according to the numbers on their name tags, which helped them get to know one another better. After coming together as a group, they began to identify themselves to one another and make plans for what they would present as a whole. Indeed, the youth did not fail to showcase their talents as each one did so with confidence in front of their fellow youth.

When afternoon came in, Rev. Euricho Raphael A. Maralit, OSJ, gave a talk in where he placed emphasis on commitment and a burning heart, particularly when serving for the church. Before the activity ended, Fr. Dennis Venus, OSJ, gave his closing remarks and reminded the youth participants the value of their contribution to the community and the importance of their fervent desire to serve in the church. He pointed out, “ipakita natin sa iba na hindi lang tayo youth, kundi youth na may purpose”.

Filled with learnings and joyful memories, the “pakighimamat sa kabatan-onan activity” was held successfully. (Jeffren Miguel – Parish SoCCom)
