Forming Ardent Hearts

Ardentibus Corde Jesu or with ardent hearts for Jesus, this is the motto of the Congregation of Schools of Charity or commonly known as the Cavanis Fathers located at Tibungco, Davao City. They manage the Anthony and Mark Cavanis Elementary School as well as the Cavanis Seminary.

Fr. Joe Lio M. Maghanoy the school Director, has shared how the motto of the Cavanis Fathers help their teaching. It was visible during the Holy Mass for the launching of the 250th birthday of one of their founders, Venerable Fr. Mark Cavanis. Kids were participative during the whole duration of the sacrament. Teachers adopt the Cavanis motto and would approach their educational roles with fervor and dedication, aiming to inspire and guide their students in a way that reflects the teachings and ideals of Jesus Christ. It conveys a sense of profound devotion to both their faith and their role as educators, emphasizing the importance of moral and spiritual values in the teaching process.

Alongside their mission in serving and teaching the elementary students about loving service, they also hone their seminarians how to love the missionary life. Young professionals or young boys are very much welcome to do search-ins during the summer. Those who have heard God’s call to mission may visit their seminary in Tibungco.

One secret to their school’s way of teaching is that educators think of themselves as second parents of these children. They teach with the intention of guiding the students in their path of life. Needed values and skills are taught to them to make them good citizens.

As the Congregation of Schools of Charity continue to be with us here in the Archdiocese of Davao, we feel utmost gratitude in helping the diocese in honing the hearts of these children in mirroring Jesus’ most sacred heart.
