Encuentro

In the sacred halls of Assumpta School of Tagum, the echoes of jubilant faith still linger from the Diocesan National Youth Day held on December 15-16, 2023. It was more than just a gathering; it was a celebration of the vibrant spirit of Catholic youth, fostering unity and lighting paths of transformation.

The event, themed “ENCUENTRO: Journeying together towards a hope-filled future,” unfolded with diverse activities and profound spiritual experiences. It wove a tapestry of faith within the hearts of attendees, an opportunity to witness the dynamism of over a thousand young souls actively embracing their faith.

For me, it was a personal revelation—a first-time experience witnessing a sea of energetic youth participating in a church event. This overwhelming manifestation ignited a flame of hope within, intensifying my desire to guide these young hearts on their journey of faith.

One participant, Angel, highlighted the significance of her involvement in the Dynamic Group within the GKK—a small community within the larger event. Here, she discovered not only her identity but also the power of unity in a group dedicated to spiritual growth. Engaging in conversations about life’s struggles became a source of inspiration, fueling her desire to become a better person and a Samaritan to others.

The Diocesan National Youth Day wasn’t just about communal growth; it catalyzed personal transformation. Through the Dynamic Group and heartfelt stories shared, the youth found a renewed sense of purpose. It became more than a celebration; it became a journey that rekindled their spirits and opened their eyes to the profound impact of faith on personal metamorphosis.

The wisdom shared by Fr. Victor Lechido, the Administrator of San Miguel Archangel Quasi Parish, became a guiding light. The reminder that “Behind the mountain of struggle, there are valleys of smiles” became a philosophy to embrace, urging persistence through challenges, knowing that beyond every difficulty lies a realm of joy and contentment.

Reflecting on the event, Angel realized that every smile, shared story, and struggle were worth it. The Diocesan National Youth Day was not just an event; it was an amazing journey that inspired dreams, instilled hope, and left an indelible mark on her heart. The emcee’s words affirmed that the collective effort, shared smiles, and profound moments were indeed worth cherishing.

The Diocesan National Youth Day at Assumpta School of Tagum was more than a gathering; it was a symphony of faith, unity, and personal transformation. As the echoes of this profound experience continue to resonate, it serves as a constant reminder for the youth that beyond challenges, valleys of smiles await discovery. This celebration was not just worth it—it was the best, an amazing journey that illuminated hearts with the radiant light of faith. (Karylle Tonie Faye S. Ringconada)
