Glory to God in the Highest

The COVID crisis from 2020 to 2023, the 2023 bad weather, droughts, typhoon, earthquakes plus the Sudan, Ukraine, Israel wars made some think, the end is near. Some frighten others by quoting parts of St. John’s revelations from chapter 20 verses one to fifteen and pointing to the bad events from 2020 to 2023. Fear, ignorance and despair have been parts of human life ever since.

As Catholics, we have an edge over others. Faith, hope and love had always been our badges of honor because we believe that we’re created to carry out God’s plans. But because of sin “man against his brother lifted hand and sword, the father’s pleading went unseen and unheard. Finally, God sent his only son to intervene.” Foretold by prophets, this became a reality when Jesus was born 2,000 years ago. Because of free will, some still go against God’s wishes although Jesus gave his life for us in Mt. Calvary. Jesus gently reminded us to watch for signs thus “be alert and watch, for you don’t know when the time will come. (Mark 33:33-37) He assured us that by doing God’s will, we will be saved, thus, Jesus said to his disciples “not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven but the one who does the will of my heavenly father” (Matthew 7: 21). This yearly celebration is a joyful reminder that God loves us. Let’s put faith, hope and love deep in our hearts. Merry Christmas!
