Sto. Niño Parish Celebrates 60 Glorious Years with a new Parish Priest

On January 16, 2024, the Sto. Niño Parish marked a significant milestone as it joyously celebrated its 60th anniversary and witnessed the installation of its new Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Kristian Peter Edwyn Dorilag, DCD. The grand occasion was adorned with the theme “PAGPADAYON SA GUGMA UG PAGTUO: 60 KA TUIG NGA GIMUMA NI SR. STO. NINO,” emphasizing the enduring love and faith nurtured within the community.

The highlight of the celebration was the 9:00 Pontifical Mass, presided over by the esteemed Bishop of the Diocese of Digos, Most Rev. Guillermo D. Afable, D.D. Joining him in concelebration were priests who have played vital roles in the spiritual journey of Sto. Niño Parish – Fr. Rogelio Albite, Fr. Leopoldo Omblero, Fr. Billy Lee Ulan-Ulan, Fr. Allan Joie Nuñez, Fr. Jeric John C. Bariquit, and the newly installed Parish Priest, Fr. Kristian Peter Edwyn Dorilag.

During the Pontifical Mass, Bishop Afable eloquently spoke about the significance of Sto. Niño and its profound impact on the life of the late Bishop Bong Lunas, whose roots traced back to Bala, Magsaysay, a part of the parish being celebrated. The Homily was a poignant reflection on the enduring legacy of faith within the community.

Following the insightful Homily, Fr. Kristian Peter Edwyn Dorilag was officially installed as the new Parish Priest, eliciting cheers and warm greetings from the jubilant parishioners. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of renewed dedication and enthusiasm as the community welcomed their new spiritual leader.

Before delivering the concluding blessing, Fr. Kristian addressed the congregation with a brief message, expressing gratitude for their warm welcome and urging for continued support through prayers. He also appealed to the parishioners to foster vocations, emphasizing the need for more individuals to answer the call to serve.

As the Mass reached its conclusion, the echoes of celebration lingered in the air, resonating with the rich history and vibrant spirit that define Sto. Niño Parish. The 60th Parochial Fiesta not only marked a momentous anniversary but also ushered in a new chapter under the guidance of Fr. Kristian Peter Edwyn Dorilag, symbolizing a commitment to continued growth, love, and faith within the cherished community. (Dominic Paul G. Amisola | Photos by John Rodel Tinampay)
