Rev. Fr. Dioscoro Bocod's Golden Jubilee

Celebrating 50 Years of Faith and Service: Rev. Fr. Dioscoro P. Bocod’s Golden Jubilee

In the Diocese of Tagum, a jubilant celebration recently unfolded at Christ the King Cathedral, marking a historic milestone as Rev. Fr. Dioscoro P. Bocod commemorated his 50th Anniversary of Presbyteral Ordination on March 11, 2024. Amidst the echoes of hymns and prayers, Fr. Bocod’s journey stood as a testament to the enduring power of priesthood and service.

Ordained under the guidance of the 1st Bishop of Tagum, the late Most Rev. Joseph William M. Regan, MM, DD, Fr. Bocod has been affectionately known as “Fr. D” among his parishioners. His life has been characterized by unwavering faith and profound dedication, exemplifying the meaning of his name, Dioscoro, which translates to “he who is of the Lord.”

For five decades, Fr. Bocod has served with a steadfast conviction, embodying the divine calling to minister to God’s people. His presence in the pulpit is marked by a commanding tone and clarity in his homilies, leaving an indelible impression to all who listen. Yet, beneath this authoritative exterior lies a heart overflowing with compassion and empathy.

Visiting the Clergy Retirement Home in Dahlia, Tagum City, one can witness the depth of Fr. Bocod’s compassion. Memories shared by Auxiliary Bishop of Davao, Most Rev. George B. Rimando, DD, recount moments of loneliness during missionary work abroad, where Fr. Bocod’s compassionate spirit provided solace and companionship.

As Psalm 30 declares, “I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me,” Fr. Bocod’s life serves as a transformative reminder that after years of active service, there comes a time for rest and reflection. It is a testament to the resilience and strength found in surrendering to God’s will, trusting in His ability to rejuvenate and restore.

The Holy Father, Pope Francis, extends his Apostolic blessing to Fr. Dioscoro Bocod on this momentous occasion, invoking the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary for an abundance of divine graces. A thanksgiving mass celebration for Fr. Bocod’s 50th Sacerdotal Anniversary was scheduled at San Ignacio Loyola Parish, Monkayo, Davao de Oro, at 5 PM, followed by a program at 6 PM last March 20, 2024.

In honoring Fr. Bocod’s golden jubilee, we not only celebrate his decades of service but also the profound impact he has had on countless lives. His story serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration, reminding us of the transformative power of faith and selfless dedication. As we gather to commemorate this milestone, let us reflect on the enduring legacy of love and service that Fr. Dioscoro P. Bocod has bestowed upon the Diocese of Tagum and beyond.
