Theme: ATPRAD @25: Joyful in Mission of Hope, Stewards of the Synodal Church and Launching of 50th Golden Jubilee Anniversary Formation Institute for Religious (FIR)

On November 10, 2024, the Temporary Professed Religious Brothers and Sisters, and the Alumni of the ATPRAD in the Archdiocese of Davao gathered to celebrate a significant milestone: the 25th anniversary of the Association of Temporary Professed Religious (ATPRAD). This momentous occasion took place at Sedes Sapiente Hall, Holy Cross Davao College, Inc., bringing together various congregations from across the archdiocese to honor a quarter-century of commitment to religious life and community.

The celebration commenced with a solemn Holy Eucharist presided over by Fr. Jacob Biernacki, MIC, who emphasized the importance of unity and the shared mission among religious congregations. His heartfelt reflections underscored the vital role that religious individuals play in serving the Church and the wider community, reminding everyone of their calling to contribute to the world around them.

Following the Mass, Fr. Archimedes Lachica, SJ, Episcopal Vicar for the Consecrated Life in the Archdiocese of Davao, He reminded everyone present of the invaluable contributions made by religious congregations within the Archdiocese. “Your work in social action, Catholic education, healthcare, and many other ministries is crucial,” he stated, urging all present to continue their dedication to service.

Dr. Randy Tudy, Ph.D., the founder of ATPRAD, shared the story behind the establishment of the association. He recounted his formation years in the novitiate, which sparked an idea that would lead to the creation of ATPRAD. Consulting with formators and superiors from various congregations, he sought a way to maintain camaraderie and friendship among temporary professed religious, leading to the founding of ATPRAD. His words resonated deeply with those present, highlighting the bonds that have been nurtured over the years and the shared mission that brought everyone together.

In addition to celebrating the achievements of ATPRAD, the anniversary event also marked the launching of the 50 Years of Formation Institute for Religious. This initiative aims to further enhance the spiritual and professional development of religious individuals, ensuring that they are well-equipped to meet the needs of a constantly changing world.

A fellowship lunch followed these inspiring speeches, providing attendees with an opportunity to enjoy each other’s company and strengthen their connections. The atmosphere was filled with joy and laughter, signifying the strong sense of community that has been fostered within ATPRAD over the past two and a half decades.

In the afternoon, the congregations showcased their diverse talents through performances and games, transforming the event into a vibrant celebration of joy and creativity. Participants engaged in various activities that not only entertained but also deepened their bonds as brothers and sisters in the faith. Laughter echoed throughout Cedes Hall, a testament to the spirit of happiness that enveloped the day.

Adding to the day’s significance, the newly elected Bishop in Cubao Most Rev. Elias L. Ayuban Jr. CM, graced the celebration with his presence. He shared an uplifting message inspired by Pope Francis: “Wherever there are religious, there is joy.” This poignant reminder encapsulated the essence of the day, affirming the joyful witness that religious individuals provide to the world.

As the day came to a close, the spirit of gratitude filled the hearts of all attendees. The milestone of ATPRAD’s 25th anniversary served as a reminder of the blessings bestowed upon the association, its pioneering members, and its ongoing mission. Special thanks were extended to the late Archbishop Fernando Capalla, D.D for his approval of ATPRAD and to Archbishop Romulo G. Valles for his continued support throughout the years.

In reflecting on the success of the event, participants expressed immense gratitude to the current officers of ATPRAD for their dedication and hard work in organizing such a meaningful celebration. The day not only marked a significant chapter in the history of the association but also reignited a passion for service and community among its members.
