Healing Hands, Helping Hearts
Last November 16, 2024, San Pablo Parish launched its 1st Medical Mission after the pandemic, inspired by the Diamond Jubilee theme: “Journeying Together as a Synodal Church Living Out the Spirituality of Stewardship in our Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) / Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKKs).” This event offered free medicines and medical services, including checkups for adults and children, random blood sugar testing, hemoglobin count and ECG to help address the great need for affordable healthcare in our community.
Dr. Miguel Uy who was part of the medical team, shared that the medical mission aimed to treat common conditions like asthma, fatigue, hypertension, high blood sugar, and rashes. This opened the opportunity for better health, especially for the elderly and families with financial constraints and long-term or chronic illnesses.
Nurse Jehu Lacorda shared his sentiments upon being able to help others, stating that being a part of the medical field and being in the position to help others in need felt fulfilling as not everyone is able to afford medicine or proper healthcare.
The success of the program was made possible through the collective efforts of the various organizations and ministries namely: the Center Organization, Stewardship Program, Parish Social Action Ministry, Caritas. Their solid support, along with the generosity of benefactors made it possible for the parish to successfully launch its first medical mission.
San Pablo Parish, through its Parish Priest, Reverend Father Allan T. Rodriguez, extends its heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed in the spirit of stewardship.
To God be the glory!
