15 Years of Devotion

The Sta. Ana Shrine Parish in Davao City marked the 15th celebration of the feast of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno with deep devotion and vibrant festivity. This year’s Eucharistic celebration was presided over by the newly ordained and Parochial Vicar, Fr. Amiel Arado, alongside concelebrants Fr. Cecilio Canico, Parochial Vicar of Sta. Ana Shrine Parish, and Fr. Julius Lugay, Parochial Vicar of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, La Verna.

Fr. Amiel Arado, barely seven months in his priesthood, shared that leading the Holy Mass for the feast filled him with immense joy and strengthened his faith. Reflecting on his journey, he recounted moments of doubt during his formation, often feeling uncertain about his vocation. As a deacon, he frequently visited the shrine of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila, fervently praying for God’s guidance and assurance.

“My priesthood is the greatest miracle that the Nazareno gave me. Nahimo kong pari, nga iya kong gisaligan, iya kong gikaluy-an (I became a priest, and He entrusted me and showed mercy to me),” Fr. Arado expressed, emphasizing the personal significance of this celebration.

The Holy Mass drew a full congregation, with devotees from various parishes gathering to honor the Black Nazarene. Fr. Arado noted the tangible presence of God’s grace, affirming his calling and the deep connection between his priesthood and the devotion to the Nazareno.

The celebration also aligned with the newly declared National Feast Day of the Black Nazarene in the Philippines, making this year’s fiesta particularly meaningful. As the faithful commemorated the 15th feast at the shrine, the event highlighted not only the enduring devotion to Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno but also the transformative power of faith in the lives of its devotees.
