God’s Word: Source of Hope

The Word of God takes a very important part in the life of society and not only of believers. In the Philippines, Presidential Proclamations have been released in order to give importance and honor to the Bible as the Word of God. The Republic Act 11163 is available. The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines likewise has long since declared the National Bible Week and the National Bible Sunday celebrations. Pope Francis also instituted the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time as Sunday of the Word of God worldwide.

In line with the Jubilee Year of Hope 2025 as declared and already opened by Pope Francis, this year’s theme goes, “God’s Word: Source of H.O.P.E. (Harmony, Obedience, Peace, Empowerment)” inspired by Lamentations 3:21-26 and Romans 15:4. There are signs of so much hope in promoting the use of the Bible in this our journey of life as some people are delighted when they receive a Bible whether as a gift or as bought. Government offices and employees slowly appreciate initiatives of both from the Church and public authorities in making the Bible loved and read. Families and Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban are given the opportunity to enthrone the Bible and hold Liturgical Bible Study.

With our little strides at the beginning of this year 2025, let us read and study always, share and pray with the Bible, and translate God’s Word in our daily life. May Jesus Christ, our hope, envelope us with His love.
