Davao City Marks National Bible Day Celebration
The City Government of Davao joined the nationwide observance of National Bible Day on January 27, 2025, during the traditional Monday flag-raising ceremony. This event, held in accordance with Republic Act 11163, underscored the role of the Bible in shaping the moral and spiritual values of Filipino people, while highlighting its alignment with the nation’s laws and principles.
Bibles and booklets were distributed to government officials and attendees, emphasizing the importance of deepening one’s faith through the Scriptures.
The ceremony was attended by key figures from Davao’s religious and civic communities, including Fr. Ritsche Gamaya, Director of the Archdiocesan Bible Apostolate of Davao; Rev. Rueland Badoy, Chairman of the Davao City Ministers Fellowship; Pastor Jay Yebes of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines; and Pastor Bong Pacheco of the Davao City Ministers Fellowship. Vice Mayor Atty. J. Melchor Quitain, Jr. also participated, symbolizing the local government’s support for the observance.
The commemoration of National Bible Day served as a reminder of the importance of unity, spiritual growth, and moral guidance in public service and everyday life.
